Voice Services
With our internet-based voice services, you can call anyone, anywhere for free wherever they are in the country, so long as they have access to the same service. That includes voice calls, audio conferencing and video conferencing. The quality will be much better than you get now and there are no toll charges. It comes back to our simple premise that you pay for the use of our pipeline. We don’t care what you send down it.
Make internet-based calls for free
You make on-net calls through the VX – our nationwide voice over IP (VoIP) service. This means, if youre VoIP enabled and you call another VoIP enabled peer, your call goes direct across the VX. Called voice peering, it eliminates the need for calls to transit the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). These calls have no per minute costs – be they across town, or to the other end of the country. Talk as often and for as long as you want. As well as being cost-effective, the voice quality of these calls is very high. This is because calls are kept IP end to end, eliminating multiple VoIP/PSTN conversions.
Call any number
We can also connect you to the PSTN so you can continue to make calls across traditional phone lines. Our PSTN connectivity includes the carriage of outbound calls and inbound DDI numbers. Our single pricing plan helps us keep our costs down and calling rates low.
Our PSTN connectivity will also save you the hassle and cost of establishing your own PSTN gateway.
All the PABX functions you need
Through our partners, we are able to provide fully managed and cost effective VoIP PABX solutions. These provide all the usual PABX functions such as voicemail, DDI routing, extension dialling, call transfers / hold music, and call detail records. We can also supply business style telephones providing convenient access to these functions.
Our managed VoIP PABX is a small server located on your site and provides VoIP peering and PSTN connectivity through your FX Networks internet connection. We can also arrange a hosted PBX service which eliminates the need for you to buy or maintain your own telephone system.
Consulting / integration advice
We have wide-ranging practical experience in making VoIP happen. Were more than happy to provide advice and assistance in your move to the VoIP world. FX Networks has some of the best VoIP and networking minds in the country waiting to connect you.
Technical details
FX Networks’ voice traffic travels over our own national backbone and receives priority treatment, so we provide the best voice quality possible. In addition, we have a direct relationship with connected parties and maintain the integrity and quality of the voice network. We also maintain the authenticity of connected parties – so when you dial a number on the VX, you can be assured the person you are calling is indeed the real owner of that number.
Getting connected
All you need to connect to the VX is a SIP enabled PABX. Your options include a native VoIP PABX, a legacy PABX with a SIP expansion card, or a legacy PABX combined with a TDM to SIP gateway.
You can add your current PSTN numbers into the VX. You can also obtain on-net only numbers which you can use to exchange calls with all other VX connected parties. You can use these numbers to hook up remote offices to a central PABX, or in other instances where on-net only voice connectivity is all that is required.
Supported SIP PABXs
All PABXs adhering to the SIP standard should work with the VX. Some of those currently in use are:
- Cisco CallManager
- Cisco CallManager Express
- Cisco IOS Voice Gateways (2800, AS5400 etc.)
- Asterisk
- Sip Express Router
- Linksys SPA9000 IP PBX
